  1. No one has quite figured it out yet, so people aren’t as behind as they thought before.
  2. The only way you fail is by not doing anything.  These tools are mostly free. Just get out there and do it.
  3. Take advantage of the people you have on your staff.
  4. People are already saying negative comments about you on other sites. It’s your job to respond. 
  5. Start small and do one thing really well.
  6. It’s not easy and it won’t solve all of your problems.  Its just one more tool in your toolbox. 
  7. 70/20/10 rule.  70% of your resources go to core programs. 20% comes to keeping up your site. 10% is an experiment. 
  8. You can’t forget the basics in the digital world. Your website is the center of all this stuff.  Make sure that’s in order before you move on. 
  9. You really can do this!!!  The interesting thing about social media is how simple this stuff is.
  10. The importance of having a plan before you do this. 
  11. You’re not along in seeing these trends (though sometimes it may seem like it when you’re on campus)
  12. Roles need to shift around in your departments.  Use student workers.
